FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DISTRIBUTORS ACQUIRE ASSETS OF CELEBRATED LOG HOME COMPANY
(Oneida, TN – July 8, 2009)
For decades Jim Barna Log Homes set the quality standard for log and timber homes by being one of the most innovative companies in the United States. The tradition was set to continue until the death of the company’s founder. As the log home business slowed, and the former company faltered, the loyal distributors had to take action to bring a well respected company back to its roots and position the new company to be the nation’s leader in log and timber homes. Kay Tuttle, of Spencer, TN has joined Log Investors Inc., an investment group comprised of many distributors and employees of the former Barna Log Homes, recently completed the acquisition of the defunct company’s assets located in Oneida, TN. Since Dec. 2008, this new group has operated under the trade name of Jim Barna Log and Timber Homes. The accomplishments the investment group has made over the last five months have been truly amazing. One of the first steps taken was to speak directly to the employees and staff at the plant to hear their suggestions on increasing productivity. The suggestions made helped the group focus their initial changes on the quality control of the “pre cut” log packages. The redesigned manufacturing facility integrated streamlined operations to reduce waste and improve efficiency across all departments. This is a major statement to the industry and to Jim Barna Log and Timber Homes customers. With new products such as our timber frame building systems, a new series of home plans and improved customer service; the focus is clearly on providing the homebuyer with their dream log or timber frame home. “We want the experience of doing business with Jim Barna Log and Timber Homes to be as pleasant as the home is to live in…” states Jeff Cox, president of Log Investors, Inc. The Board of Directors and Management Team is comprised of seasoned professionals that provide a broad base of experiences in each of the functional areas of the Company. Jeffrey Cox, President, Kenneth T. Parsons, Vice President, Joy Mulkern, Secretary/Treasurer, with Gary Bates, Andrew Green, Clay Bradburn, and Joe Dymond completing the Board of Directors. Ronnie Wilson is General Manager; Shellie Valentine is National Sales Manager, Zolton Obrusanszki, International Sales Manager and Gilbert Phillips, Plant Manager. This group represents over 140 years of experience in the log home industry. Headquarters and manufacturing will remain in Oneida, TN. So as history sometimes repeats itself, Jim Barna Log and Timber Homes promises to continue in the strong tradition that started over 30 years ago. With distributors providing services internationally, the newly re-launched company will continue to be a log home industry innovator and leader for many years to come.
